CLINIC EVANGELISM

SOUL SEEKING

The reason why we do all the clinical outreaches is to bring the unbelievers in and to present the gospel to them. Sure we desire to see people get relief from their pain and suffering but above all it is their souls that we are seeking to bring into the kingdom of God. Praise God for short term and long term teams who also share the vision of presenting the gospel to everyone.

The people in this group are intently listening to the gospel of Jesus Christ before receiving our medical services.

SHORT TERM MISSION TEAMS

MT. PARAN

This Mount Paran Church of God team was led by Lisa Smith. Francisco is a physician and his wife, Angie, is a dentist. Carolyn is an emergency room nurse, and Melissa is training to become a nurse. This small but high performance team was a great blessing to the Alabaster team at Bethany and also to the many people they served. They treated dental and medical patients and shared the gospel with many.

DENTAL RESEARCH TEAM

The dental research team comprising of Dr. Charlie Vittitow, his wife Sherry and their son, Chaz, Dr. Denny Scharine, Dr. Robert Kovarik and his wife Kim, Judy Skelton and her son David came to conduct a scientific research of the effectiveness of the lay dentistry program as compared to the traditional dental program. This was an intense program. We treated over 400 patients in 4 days and we did over 300 tooth extractions.

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY TEAM

The team from the University of Kentucky, Lexington was led by Jeremy Buchanan and his wife, Jenna. Jeremy’s parents were missionaries to Ghana for several years. This is the third time that he has led teams to Alabaster Project in Tamale. They concentrated their efforts on our farming project, plowing, harrowing and sowing corn on our 13 acre farm. Also they participated in our discipleship program in the various villages. They are a fun group to work with.

LONGER TERM MISSION TEAMS

WESLEY WOMBLE

Wesley Womble lived and worked with us for about 6 weeks this summer. He is a disciplined hard working young missionary, who made the fishing net shown below which we used to harvest fish from our fish pond. Wesley helped with the plowing of our farm as well as exploring the possibility of introducing “Boer” goats from South Africa to Ghana. Being a flight instructor he naturally looked into the possibility of training King, to fly ultra light plane to some of the remote villages. The 6 weeks that he spent with us seemed only a few days. We look forward to having Wesley coming to work with us again in the future.

EYE CLINIC

THE MOVE IS COMPLETE

The equipment for eye care has been moved into the new eye clinic. The space that we were using in the dental clinic was very cramped. The picture in the next column shows King and his assistant, Jude, explaining the need for pterygia operation to a patient. We believe God for surgical equipment and surgeons to perform various eye surgeries at the new eye clinic.

The picture below is an example of some of the patients that are waiting for surgery.
