June 2010 Newsletter

HOME SWEET HOME

A lot has happened since our last newsletter. In April, we returned back to Ghana after 2 months travel overseas. When we started to write this newsletter it was 100 degrees at 6:00 in the evening and we were without electricity. A cold shower would have been nice but there wasn’t any cold water. When we turned on the faucet we only got hot water. Not to mention it took two weeks for the air conditioner repairman to make whatever adjustments was needed for the air conditioner in our bedroom to function properly. It is great to be home!

COLUMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA

Last February, 2010 we were invited to Colombia, South America. It was wonderful to see what God is doing in South America. King shared a message on “The Great Commission” which was received with joy. God has blessed us with brothers and sisters who are ready to do God’s will. We discussed the possibility of bringing people from South America to be trained as missionaries to African nations. We had a great time and we are looking forward to returning in the future.

MALI

God has given us tremendous favor with the local authorities in Gao. We have started the dental ministry in Mali.

Alabaster Project

We had more patients than we could see. It was a big occasion, attended by the Imam and chief of the city. The very first day 3 people answered the call. One of these people was a school teacher. He is bilingual (English and French) and has promised to come to Bethany Village in Ghana for a visit soon. In the photo below, patients are listening to the message before receiving dental care. Pray that those who hear will learn, so as to improve their lives and help others in their communities.

FAVORITE SPORT

Like most African nations, soccer is the favorite sport for young people in Mali. Below is a picture of youngsters playing soccer on the desert sand, as cattle roam about looking for food to eat.

FAMILY

Ayisha, Mahamud, Hamid, and Baby Ruth are fine. Augustine has been attending computer school to have a basic knowledge of computers. He is doing very well and is looking forward to attending high school soon. Pray for God’s continued favor for his life.

A photo of Mahamud and Hamid is shown below on their way to school. When they arrived at Bethany Village they could not speak a word of English though Mahamud had been enrolled in his village school.

Thank you for your prayers for all our family members.

HOUSE OF JOSEPH

Below is a picture of the widow of Pastor James of Tarikpaa. It is our joy to obey God’s word and provide for the widows and orphan (Isaiah 58:7-9, James 1:27). Last month we planted peanuts on our farm. Pray for a great harvest. More churches are joining our food program.

THE CHURCH AT DATOYILI

Datoyili is one of the new churches which God planted as a result of the disciples of Fooshegu. This church has a very special place in our heart. Most of the believers are very young, between the ages of 7 and 12. Every Sunday these young people are faithful to come to church whether the adults come or not. The church meets outside under a tree. This reminds us so much of the days when Jesus taught the people outside. There is no intimidation or affronts. Anyone passing by can stop and listen. It is actually very comfortable sitting outside especially when the temperature is around 100 degrees.

One of the disciples of Fooshegu has started a children’s program for the children of Datoyili.

DISCIPLESHIP

All our discipleship classes are going strong. The disciples are becoming the leaders and teachers of their various churches. Below is a picture of the disciples of Moglaa.
